Spring is a newly established learning center for children in which the designer eschewed fairytale cliches such as rainbow colors and cartoon characters and sought to look at the space from a child's viewpoint, focusing on the learning experience as a whole. The goal was to design a space that caters to children's physical and psychological needs, ultimately helping them reach their development and learning potential. Located in Wanchai, Spring spans across an expansive 7,500 square feet of space. The center is designed from a dual perspective of child and adult, and was created to be enjoyed by both generations. While the children are exploring the space, adults are also encouraged to take part in the learning process and see the world from a child's point of view. In the end, the goal is to facilitate a dialogue and interaction between children, parents, and educators. The center will be used by children and adults on an equal basis and therefore two furniture systems were designed to cater to their respective ergonomic needs.
