This house is a cottage adjoining the existing main house. The site is located in the southeast of Sapporo city in a residential area 1,000 feet higher than the center district, with a western view of the mountains. The project is concerned with expanding space beyond the walls, fences, and borders that exist in our life. There are two circulations in a small plan. The space was given plenty of volume with a 12 foot ceiling height. Behind a white wall the ceiling is lower and this area will become a bedroom several years from now. The interior consists of three wooden materials: Sakhalin fir, Japanese cedar, and larch. White walls that reflect light and purify the space act as a fourth material.
