If you’ll be in Los Angeles this weekend and need some design-related stimulation and fun, the Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design (LA Forum) is opening up a dual exhibition, “Linear City and The Big Atlas of L.A. Pools,” which is sure to leave you with dozens of questions about how design and infrastructure are powerful resources for understanding the complexity of this city. “Linear City” is an exhibition of Lane Barden’s portfolio of 130 gorgeous aerial photos arranged on a single 58-foot-long print. The images deftly expose “public infrastructure that is hidden in plain sight,” which LA Forum co-president Ella Hazard hopes will “fuel a growing public curiosity about what other things may be undiscovered – and where new urban design opportunities may lie.” As residents of an ever-growing city, Angelenos are increasingly interested in taking a look beneath the surface, at the intricate depths of city infrastructure.
