Shocking Video Shows How LEGO Is Caught in a Geo-Political Battle

Nothing is more fun than toys that influence geopolitics. LEGO is a nice little Danish company that makes the plastic bricks we all loved as children, and creates cute animated movies and video games. There is even a theme park. But LEGO has a dark side, some would say. Images via theenergyissue.com LEGO also happens to be the largest manufacturer of tires in the world. Though small in size, the company produces over 300 million a year. If that is not ecologically destructive enough, some claim they are also in the pocket of big oil, as they are partnered with Shell, giving the petroleum giant a friendly LEGO cover for their Arctic drilling, according to Greenpeace. The environmental organization has launched a campaign, complete with a mini-site, meant to convince LEGO to sever ties with Shell and "Save the Arctic." The site has a petition, but also a very slick (pun intended) video about how destructive the oil drilling in the Arctic would be — polluting waters, killing wildlife, and accelerating the already precarious melting of icecaps.
