Dude, Check Out a Skateboard in the Shape of SANAA's New Museum

In recent years, everyone from Damien Hirst to Jeff Koons has been plastering their art on the bottom of skateboard decks in an effort to connect the art world to the elusive cool of skate culture. Aside from creating the paint job gracing the ground-facing part of the board, however, none of these designs have ever made as much of a statement as the new Chapman x New Museum board just launched in the museum’s gift shop. The deck itself has been cut to match the outline of the nonlinear stacks that make up SANAA’s 2007 New Museum building, clearly leaving the elliptical norm behind. The accompanying video of skaters actually using the board seems to suggest that the shape won’t hinder your skating abilities at all, so you can tell your friends you ollied the New Museum — all seven stories of it. See what they did there? Note, hacky sack not included. Images via New Museum
