Architecture We're Thankful For: The Structure of Gratitude

This one’s a love-hate relationship for me. The Astoria-Megler Bridge, designed by William A. Bugge and completed in 1966, is a 4.1-mile two-lane stretch of concrete, steel, and dead birds connecting Washington to Oregon. On a recent bike tour, it was the only option to get me on my way from Seattle to San Francisco. I had no choice but to bike right over the roadkill, as cyclists have virtually no shoulder on this route.
