Rue des Rogations Apartments

The site, at the corner of rue Ledru Rollin and rue des Rogations, is situated amongst an urban fabric discernible because of its typological diversity and heterogeneity of existing building volumes; thus, the project must readdress its surroundings. Starting with its size and its function, the intention of the project is to establish a more urban, residential scale, recalling the one that exists on rue des Rogations while ensuring a transition from the smaller adjacent townhouses. The building stands according to an alignment with the public space while anchoring the corner of rue des Rogations and rue Ledru Rollin; it recreates a street frontage, an indispensable element in the organization of this urban fabric. The intention to rebuild a more “urban” scale (size: six floors) while ensuring the integration of the project in its environment means the building is designed according to two principles: verticality and porosity. The building is organized according to the “faults” from which the balconies are installed, benefiting from facing in the best direction: in this way, four volumes are designed according to a rising rhythm.
