Form Follows Fat: The Architecture Of Snack Stadiums

The Super Bowl offers several ways to have fun. There are the ads, the parties, the half-time show ... even the football. But the most underrated aspect of Super Bowl Sunday? The food. Perhaps more than any other American holiday, the Super Bowl encourages amateur chefs to get wild with snacks and go ham with some appetizers. One place where architecture collapses with this combo of sports and sustenance is in the Snack Stadium, a fantastic fan fiction of food, football, form, function, and fat. While these culinary structures vary in their materials and aesthetic, there are some common tropes, such as beefstick goal posts, guacamole fields, Rice Krispies arches, and candy cars in parking lots.
