This new proposal reimagines the beloved bridge’s steel trusses, road and girders as a multi-use space. Although the initial idea was to design a simple house, a student design competition revealed the massive potential for the site, resulting in a proposal that incorporates eco-housing, co-working space, exhibition space, and even Airbnb quarters. Greishaber describes the situation as “a bureaucratic nightmare," and he is currently gathering support in hopes of convincing the regional transportation agencies to hand over the 78-year-old structure.
