Here's one example: you could stay for a week in the Villa Saraceno, designed by the 16th-century master of residential Renaissance architecture, Andreas Palladio. Villa Saraceno. Image via Landtrust.org.uk. Built around 1550, the villa operated as a country retreat and a working farm for the Saraceno family, who came to Vicenza from Rome in the late 13th century. The home features one of Palladio's classic symmetrical plans. Visitors enter through the portico and up to 16 people can catch Zs in the generously proportioned rooms.
